HOW TO RIDE THE WS250

HOW TO RIDE THE WS250

Before you ride your WS250, make sure you’ve conducted your pre-ride check, are familiar with the vehicle and wearing the proper clothing and safety gear.

Starting procedure

  • Climb onto the riding platform of your WS250
  • Take your magnetic key and put the tether strap around your wrist, making sure there is a proper tension. This is a safety measure that will allow the engine to shut off should you fall off your WS250
  • Pull on the brake lever and make sure the brake lever is engaged all throughout the starting procedure
  • Connect the key to the magnetic emergency switch
  • Flick the ignition switch on
  • Press the gray start button
  • Release the brake lever

Riding position
The Widescape WS250 is very lightweight at 200 pounds, with most of that weight strategically positioned in front of the rider’s feet. The center of mass is also very low, making it easy and intuitive to handle the snowmobile by shifting your weight from side-to-side using your feet.

  • Place your feet as close as possible to the rear cover panel, in order to align your body weight with the vehicle’s center of gravity.
  • Place your feet on either side of the riding platform, aligning them with the width of your shoulders.
  • Never ride the vehicle in a position where you have to turn your trunk, like on a snowboard.
  • Adopt an engaged and flexible riding position, with your knees slightly bent to help absorb impacts efficiently.
  • Always look far ahead when riding to facilitate balance and have a good view of obstacles.
  • Do not ride the vehicle while looking down at the ski and never stare at obstacles to avoid mishaps.
  • Make sure you hold the handlebars firmly when riding and keep your elbows slightly bent upward so that you can better steer the vehicle and avoid injury

How to steer the WS250

On hard packed snow

  • Steer the vehicle with the handle bars to align the ski in the desired direction, using the ski’s central carbide to provide grip.

In soft or deep snow

  • Counter-steer the vehicle and shift your weight onto the side of the vehicle where you want to turn to tilt the vehicle, using the ski’s side runners to provide grip.

How to restart your WS250 after a fall

The WS250 has a lean angle sensor that automatically shuts off the engine when the snowmobile is laid on the ground or upside down as a safety measure to prevent fuel leakage and potential fires.

If the engine shuts off due to a fall, here are some key steps to remember.

  • If your WS250 doesn't automatically shut off after a fall, you can manually kill the engine by pulling on the tether cord or flicking the ignition switch off.
  • Once you've lifted your WS250 back up, ensure that the magnetic key is connected and the tether is properly attached to your wrist.
  • Flick the ignition switch off and back on again, and wait for 3 seconds. This will activate the engine start cycle and reset the lean angle sensor.
  • You'll hear the engine cycle run, and after 3 seconds, you can press the start button and continue your ride
  • It’s always a good idea to take a quick break after a fall. It's a perfect time to enjoy the present moment.
